Your Session Starts Before the First Rep

Your session starts before the first rep. Five things happen in the minutes before the bar moves, and one of them takes ten seconds and a scoop.

A woman in a black crop top tightens a barbell collar on a squat rack, her open gym bag, the Aminotaur tub and a clear shaker at the foot of the rack

Watch someone who trains well and you will notice it. The session does not start with the first rep. It starts when they walk in, and nothing about those first minutes is rushed.

By the time the bar moves, five things are done, in the same order every time. This is that list, with the Aminotaur Essential scoop in its place.

The five

What happens before the first rep

01
Walk in with the plan. The first lift is chosen, the order is written down, and nobody has to think about the program at the rack.
02
Claim your spot. Bag down, towel out, rack set. Everything you will touch for the next hour is within reach.
03
Mix the scoop. One level scoop in water, lid on, shake. The shaker lands next to the bag, in sipping distance.
04
Warm up and take the first sips. Light sets, a few sips between them. The label calls for the scoop before and/or during training.
05
Set the bar. Collar tight, game face on. The first working set is a formality, because everything before it is already done.
Item 03

What is in the shaker

It is the one item on the list you can read a label for. Five grams of L-leucine in a 5:1:1 BCAA ratio, 3.5 grams of EAAs, 1 gram of L-carnitine tartrate and an electrolyte blend. That is 11.5 grams of amino acids with zero sugar, in a drink that takes ten seconds to make.

What is in one scoop
L-Leucine 5,000 mg The lead BCAA, in a 5:1:1 ratio
L-Isoleucine + L-Valine 2,000 mg 1,000 mg each

The ritual

Do it the same way every time

None of the five is hard, and that is the idea. A pre-session routine is not about adding effort. It is about removing the loose ends, so that when the first rep arrives there is nothing left to sort out.

Four flavors keep the ritual from going stale: Orange Mango Guava, The Grape Escape, Fresh Squeezed Lemonade and Sour Apple. Same formula, so the list never changes.

Before you decide

When should I mix it?

Whenever suits your setup: before you leave, or while you claim your spot at the gym. The label says one level scoop in water before and/or during training, sipped through the session.

Do I have to finish it before the first set?

No. It is built to be sipped through the session, not downed up front. Start in the warm-up and keep going set to set.

What is in the scoop besides leucine?

2,000 mg of isoleucine and valine, a 3,500 mg EAA blend, 1,000 mg of L-carnitine tartrate and a 2,325 mg Electro-Hydration blend. The BCAA, EAA and carnitine blends make 11.5 grams of amino acids.

Does it add time to my warm-up?

About ten seconds. One level scoop, water, shake. The rest of your pre-session routine stays exactly as it is.

Which flavor should I start with?

Orange Mango Guava is the one in the photo. The Grape Escape, Fresh Squeezed Lemonade and Sour Apple share the same formula.
