A Training Drink for the Early Alarm Crowd

If your alarm goes off before the sun does, the gym usually comes before breakfast. Here is how one scoop fits into the forty minutes between bed and the first set.

A man in a grey hoodie pours a scoop of orange Aminotaur powder into a shaker in a dark pre-dawn kitchen, gym bag on his shoulder

There are two kinds of people in the gym at 5am. The ones who planned it, and the ones for whom it was the only slot left. Both end up in the same place: a dark kitchen, keys in one hand, working out whether there is time to eat. Usually there is not.

This page is about what goes in the shaker on the way out the door.

The routine

The early session, minute by minute

Nothing about training early is complicated. It just has no slack in it, so every step that can be removed should be.

4:45
Alarm. Clothes laid out the night before. Water first.
4:52
One level scoop, water, lid on. Ten seconds over the sink. The shaker goes in the bag, not back on the counter.
5:10
Out the door. The shaker rides along.
5:25
Warm-up. First sips.
5:40
Working sets. A sip between sets, through to the last one.
6:30
Done. Breakfast when you get home.

The label direction is one scoop before and/or during training, sipped through the session. At 5am that simply means: mix it before you leave, drink it while you work.

★★★★★

"Aminotaur saves me since I hit the gym by 5am and have no time for a pre-workout meal! It helps me push so much harder during my weight training! I'll never go without it."

The formula

What is actually in the shaker

Early mornings are not the moment for mystery ingredients. One scoop of Aminotaur Essential carries 5 grams of L-leucine in a 5:1:1 BCAA ratio, 3.5 grams of essential amino acids alongside it, an electrolyte blend, and a gram of L-carnitine tartrate.

It has zero sugar and no stimulants. It is not a pre-workout and it does not pretend to be one.

What is in one scoop
L-Leucine 5,000 mg The lead BCAA, in a 5:1:1 ratio
L-Isoleucine + L-Valine 2,000 mg 1,000 mg each
EAA Plus Blend 3,500 mg Lysine, threonine, methionine, phenylalanine, arginine, glycine, histidine, tryptophan
Electro-Hydration Blend 2,325 mg L-Taurine 1,500 mg, magnesium, potassium, Himalayan salt, coconut water powder
L-Carnitine Tartrate 1,000 mg Metabolic Factor

Zero sugar. No stimulants. 30 servings per tub. Full Supplement Facts on the product page.

The honest part

What it is not

It is not breakfast. The label says so plainly: it is not intended to replace a normal meal. Eat when you get home.

It is not caffeine. If you want a stimulant at 5am, that is a separate decision.

It is not a shortcut. Getting up is still your job. What it does is make the early session one step simpler: one scoop, one bottle, nothing to time.

★★★★★

"Great new flavor! Only BCAA/EAA with this kind of dosing and taste. Every other company is underdosed and flavors are medicinal."

The flavor

Four flavors, because 5am deserves something you want to drink

Orange Mango Guava is the one in the picture. The Grape Escape, Fresh Squeezed Lemonade and Sour Apple carry the same formula. Taste comes up in our reviews more than anything else, which matters more than it sounds when you are drinking it before sunrise.

★★★★★

"The grape is great flavor."

Before you decide

Do I drink it before or during training?

Either, or both. The label says one scoop before and/or during training, sipped through the session. Most early trainers mix it before leaving and sip from the warm-up on.

Can I train on it instead of eating?

It is not a meal replacement, and the label says so. It is an amino drink for the session. Eat when you get home.

Does it have caffeine?

No. Aminotaur Essential contains no stimulants and no sugar.

How long does a tub last?

30 servings. At one scoop a session, five sessions a week, that is about six weeks.

Which flavor should I start with?

Orange Mango Guava if you like tropical, The Grape Escape if you like the candy end of things. All four share the same formula.
